PHILADELPHIA — Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. received two Excellence in Economic Development Awards for its 2012 brochures in the category of Annual Report for communities with populations greater than 500,000 from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The Partnership was honored with a Gold and Bronze award in the international competition.
The honors were presented at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 8, during the IEDC Annual Conference, which was held in Philadelphia, Penn.
“The Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the Greater Richmond Partnership as being one of the leading organizations in the industry for innovation, creativity and successful strategies,” said IEDC chair, Paul Krutko. “These awards are meant to honor the organizations and individuals who are dedicated to making a positive change in their communities. This organization uses creative solutions and inventive ideas, and offers other regions a wonderful example to learn and benefit from. The awards represent an acknowledgment and appreciation for the Greater Richmond Partnership’s dedication to continuous growth within itself, as well as improving the industry overall.”
The Gold award was given for the Business First Greater Richmond 2011-2012 Annual Report. Business First is the business retention and expansion program of The Greater Richmond Partnership, the economic development organization representing the City of Richmond and the Counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico, Va. Winning the Bronze award was the Partnership’s own 2011-12 Annual Report highlighting the organization’s fiscal year results and program successes. Last year, the group incorporated photography from its award-winning video series, “Greater Richmond: Come & Stay,” which was co-produced with Richmond Region Tourism with assistance from the Retail Merchants Association and Virginia Tourism Corporation.
“This is the first time that we have had two publications win in the same category,” said Gregory H. Wingfield, CEO and President of the Partnership. “We’re very proud of this recognition when competing against much larger metros and economic development organizations. Altogether this year, we have won 10 awards from different professional organizations that recognize our creative and marketing proficiencies.”
IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders.
