In an effort to prepare students for the future of industrial automation, Weidmüller Group gifted $24,000 in high-tech automation equipment to the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering.
Weidmüller, an automation and technology company, is expanding its engineering and manufacturing facility in Chesterfield County.
“We were talking about how there’s a gap between upgrading technologies and IT,” VCU computer science junior Prakhaur Mathur said Monday. “I think this is going to bridge that gap, especially when you go into the industry.”
Citing trends in smarter manufacturing processes, Weidmüller is working to make advancements in automation and what technology insiders call the “industrial internet of things” by developing products such as automation and IIoT simulation kits.
