The Spiritos School has been named one of the best schools for autism in the nation; the New Community schools is ranked #1 for special education in Virginia; and the Faison School is ranked #3 for special education in Virginia.
Greater Richmond higher education institutions also offer specialized education programs. Virginia Commonwealth University’s ACE-IT in College is a two-year certificate program designed for students with intellectual disability. VCU’s ACE-IT in College is the first accredited college program in Virginia and the third in the nation.
