Amazon.com to hire more than 500 in Chesterfield, Dinwiddie

The online retailer Amazon.com Inc. said Tuesday that it plans to hire more than 500 full-time employees at its distribution centers in Chesterfield and Dinwiddie counties.
The hiring is part of the Seattle-based company’s plans to add 6,000 full-time employees to work at 19 U.S. distribution centers, including the two local ones.
Amazon reported having 3,300 full-time-equivalent employees at its Richmond-area operations as of Jan. 1.
The company operates more than 50 U.S. fulfillment.
The fulfillment centers are where Amazon stocks the numerous products it sells online, and where it ships customer orders from. The company is hiring for employees to pick, pack and ship orders.
The website says the pay for fulfillment associates is $11.50 per hour.
