Chesterfield County‘s hopes for more high-paying jobs at a still-to-be-developed technology park got a big boost from the state: a $13 million state grant for work at its Upper Magnolia Green megasite.
The more than 2,000-acre swath of western Chesterfield is where the county hopes to run an extension of the Powhite Parkway.
“Absolutely, this is great news … we’re looking forward to continuing to work with the state,” said Garrett Hart, the county’s director of economic development.
He said the county will use the funds to improve road access to the site, making it easier for prospects to evaluate it.
The county won a $25 million state grant last year, which it used for design and engineering on all the infrastructure, including roads, water supply, sewers and stormwater drainage needed to make a site ready for a business to move in.
