Greater Richmond now home to 8 Fortune 500 headquarters

June 9, 2022

This year, Fortune’s 2022 rankings of the top U.S. public and private corporations by gross revenue brings good news to Greater Richmond. Convenience store operator ARKO, based in Henrico County, rose to the Fortune 500 list making the region home to eight on the exclusive list. ARKO, the parent company of Richmond-based GPM Investments, only made it to the Fortune 1000 list for the first time last year.

According to a statement from ARKO Chairman and CEO Arie Kotler, “We’re incredibly proud to be named to this year’s Fortune 500 list, an important confirmation that our growth strategy, disciplined investment approach, and our people continue to deliver excellent results. This is a significant achievement since joining NASDAQ less than two years ago, and a testament to our continued success.”

Kotler points to Greater Richmond’s strong and educated workforce plus the region’s proximity to other major markets for its successful growth. “Richmond has been a great base of operations because of its educated, motivated workforce and proximity to some of our prime territories throughout Virginia and the Carolinas,” says Kotler.
