June 30, 2022

Jennifer Wakefield, President + CEO of Greater Richmond Partnership

RICHMOND, Va. (June 30, 2022) – The Greater Richmond Partnership (“GRP”), the lead regional economic development organization serving the City of Richmond and counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico, shares that Jennifer Wakefield, APR, President + CEO of the Greater Richmond Partnership, was named among the 2022 Women in Leadership from Virginia Business magazine.

Wakefield was recognized for her efforts to position Greater Richmond as the top mid-sized region for investment. Recent project announcements Wakefield had a hand in locating include Amazon’s robotics fulfillment center creating 1,000+ jobs, CoStar’s 2,000-job corporate campus expansion and The LEGO Group’s 1,760-job carbon-neutral manufacturing center.

In addition to attracting new companies to Greater Richmond, Wakefield aims to create enough local jobs to retain the region’s youth. Wakefield told Virginia Business, “Like any parent, I don’t want my son to have to leave Richmond to have a good job one day. I want to make sure that we create a diverse economy so that no matter what he decides to major in when he’s older, he can do that.”

Since joining the Partnership in 2017, Wakefield has served as senior vice president of marketing, chief operating officer and interim President and CEO twice before being elected as permanent President and CEO in February 2021.
