The Richmond region’s newest publicly traded company has a legacy that dates back more than a century.
Hamilton Beach has been designing and selling household appliances for more than 100 years, attaining an iconic brand status as a creator of tools that make cooking, ironing and other household duties easier, and even entertaining.
Yet the Hamilton Beach Brands Holding Co.’s global headquarters in western Henrico County is rather unassuming among the numerous office buildings in the Innsbrook Corporate Center. All that announces its presence to passers-by is a simple sign out front with the company’s logo.
About 230 people work at its Henrico headquarters, but Hamilton Beach Brands operated rather quietly since 1990 as a subsidiary of Cleveland-based NACCO Industries, a coal mining company that got into appliances and equipment in the late 1980s as a diversification strategy.
