Jeff Wright believes regional collaboration powers economic growth

March 31, 2025

Jeff Wright of Allianz Partners USA

With almost 20 years of experience in the insurance sector, Jeff Wright was named CEO of Allianz Partners USA in February 2022. Allianz, the world leader in travel insurance and assistance, employs over 19,000 individuals globally, with about 275 team members based in the Greater Richmond area.

A University of Richmond graduate with a bachelor’s degree in finance and his MBA from University of Maryland, Jeff has built a career rooted in financial strategy and innovation in the region. He previously served as Allianz’s CFO, overseeing financial strategy for the global travel business and North American operations.

As a member of the Greater Richmond Partnership’s Regional Leadership Circle, Jeff is committed to advancing the region’s economic development and fostering an environment where businesses and communities thrive.

The power of collaboration

Jeff has a strong foundation in economic development and shares GRP’s belief that public-private collaboration is essential for sustained growth.

Economic development works best when businesses and local governments collaborate

“Here in Richmond, multiple counties and the city contribute to the strength of Central Virginia’s economy,” Jeff said. “The private sector plays a crucial role in ensuring that development aligns with market needs and creates lasting opportunities for businesses and residents alike.”

One of the driving forces behind this collaboration is the Greater Richmond Partnership’s Regional Leadership Circle, an exclusive advisory group composed of GRP’s top investors. Limited to senior-level executives from the private sector, the group provides strategic insight and leadership to help Greater Richmond remain competitive and attractive to businesses.

For Jeff, being part of the Leadership Circle has been impactful.

“The Regional Leadership Circle provides a valuable forum for business leaders to share insights and guide the region’s economic future,” he said. “It keeps companies informed about upcoming developments and fosters connections among businesses that are eager to invest in the community’s success.”

Investing in GRP

Jeff understands that economic growth doesn’t happen in a silo; it requires active engagement from business leaders committed to shaping the future. That’s why he believes supporting GRP is a strategic move for any company looking to make a lasting impact.

“Economic development fuels growth, innovation and opportunity,” Jeff said. “Employees expect company leaders to take an active role in shaping the future of the community. GRP offers the most effective way to contribute to regional success, no matter your industry or where development is happening.”

By investing in GRP, businesses gain access to a powerful network of decision-makers, valuable economic insights and opportunities to help shape the region’s future, all while benefiting from Greater Richmond’s strong economic fundamentals.

For Jeff, that investment is a key ingredient for a prosperous future for the region.

Looking ahead

As Greater Richmond continues to grow and attract new businesses, leaders like Jeff play a vital role in shaping its economic landscape. Through his leadership at Allianz Partners USA and his involvement with GRP, he not only is driving business success, but also fostering a community where companies and individuals can thrive.
