The Richmond region needs more shell buildings that would be available for business prospects in manufacturing and distribution to quickly start operations, a local economic development official said Wednesday.
Only one such building suitable for industrial use has been built in the region in six years, said Barry Matherly, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Richmond Partnership, a regional economic development group supported partly by private investors and partly by local governments.
