An office or residential development could come to the Richmond side of Rocketts Landing, after the city’s Planning Commission voted Tuesday in favor of a rezoning request there.
The rezoning would allow the property owner to redevelop a lightly used, 3-acre riverfront property with mixed-use buildings that could stand up to 12 stories. The owner has advertised the site as a destination for an office building.
What exactly will get built has not been decided, Lory Markham, a planning consultant for the owner, told the Planning Commission. The City Council would have to approve the measure.
While Rocketts Landing has experienced significant redevelopment, bringing homes and businesses there, the vast majority has been to the south on the Henrico County side of the line.
