In July 2023, the Greater Richmond Partnership (GRP) was contacted by its local partners at Hanover County Economic Development, which had been approached by McGuireWoods Consulting with a new project.
The undisclosed client sought a 150,000 sq.ft. warehouse for a repair and distribution center for utility components and specialty tooling used by power providers in the mid-Atlantic. Project parameters required easy access to major highways and on-site backup generation.
To support our local and state partners, GRP completed a Request for Information (RFI) that included data on taxes and incentives as well as workforce training and demographics. GRP also completed a labor study for the project and worked with local developers to gather and share site and property information.
GRP, Hanover County Economic Development, and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked together to secure this project.
CEEUS chose to locate its operation in Greater Richmond, Virginia, after comparing the region to areas in North Carolina as well as South Carolina.
In December 2023, CEEUS announced it would establish a 187,000 sq.ft. distribution center in Hanover, creating 30 jobs. CEEUS President and CEO Chad Chapps chose the Hanover site for its strategic location and proximity to customers.
With almost 50 years in the electric utility industry, we are confident we have the experience and distribution knowledge to build strong supply lines for the electric utility and broadband markets in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware while developing supportive relationships in our new community of Hanover County. We are excited to establish in Virginia what we have built in South Carolina. Chad CappsPresident and CEO, CEEUS
